40:1 planetary reduction — torque and backlash limits
The GBX0800401001F is a planetary gearbox with a 40:1 reduction ratio, delivering a continuous output torque of 110 N.m at 100 rpm and 30 °C. Maximum output torque reaches 176 N.m under the same conditions, though the service life at that peak drops to 10000 hours versus 30000 hours at the continuous rating. Maximum torsional backlash is 14 arc.min — this sets the positioning repeatability floor for the driven axis. For applications requiring tighter indexing, a lower-backlash gearbox would be needed.
Efficiency, noise, and environmental sealing
Rated efficiency is 94 %, meaning roughly 6 % of input power is lost as heat in the gear train. At the continuous torque point, this translates into a thermal load that the black anodised aluminium housing must dissipate. Noise level is 60 dB at 1 m under no-load conditions — this is the acoustic baseline; loaded operation will increase it. The shaft output carries an IP54 ingress rating, which excludes dust ingress and protects against splashing water, suitable for controlled indoor environments.
Obsolete — sourcing through independent channels
Schneider Electric has marked this gearbox as obsolete. Availability is limited to independent surplus and broker stock — quantities are lot-specific and confirmed at RFQ. The gearbox is lubricated for life and rated for 30000 hours of service at 100 rpm and 30 °C. Axial and radial force limits are derated for longer service life: at 30000 hours, maximum axial force is 900 N and maximum radial force is 650 N (force applied at mid-distance from output shaft).
