Obsolete — sourcing through independent channels
Schneider Electric lists the GBX1200250553F as obsolete. This planetary gearbox is sourced through independent distribution against an RFQ.
Torque envelope and service life at rated load
Continuous output torque is 230 N.m at 100 rpm and 30 °C. Maximum output torque reaches 368 N.m under the same conditions. Service life is rated 30,000 hours at 100 rpm and 30 °C. The gearbox is lubricated for life — no field regreasing interval to schedule. The 25:1 reduction ratio and 12 arc.min maximum torsional backlash define the positioning accuracy. For a 360° output revolution, 12 arc.min corresponds to 0.2° of lost motion under load reversal.
Mechanical ratings that govern fit
Maximum axial force Fa is 2100 N at 100 rpm for the 30,000-hour service life, or 2800 N for a 10,000-hour life. Maximum radial force Fr is 1500 N at 100 rpm for 30,000 hours, or 2000 N for 10,000 hours, with force applied at mid-distance from the output shaft. Shaft output is IP54 — protected against dust ingress and splashing water, but not washdown. The housing is black anodized aluminium with a C 45 steel shaft. Gearbox external diameter is 120 mm.
Efficiency and noise in system context
Rated 94 % efficiency — the 6 % loss converts to heat within the gearbox housing. At 230 N.m and 100 rpm (approximately 2.4 kW input), the thermal loss is about 145 W that must be dissipated through the 120 mm aluminium housing. Noise level is 65 dB at 1 m, no-load. Straight teeth are inherently noisier than helical gearing at higher speeds, but at the rated 100 rpm the 65 dB figure is typical for this class.
