Torque delivery and duty cycle fit
This GBX1600151383D is a planetary gearbox with straight teeth, 160 mm external diameter, and a 15:1 reduction ratio. The continuous output torque is 700 N.m, while the maximum output torque reaches 1120 N.m — the margin between those two figures tells you the overload headroom for intermittent peak loads without oversizing the gearbox. The 94 % efficiency means about 6 % of input power is lost as heat inside the housing. For a 700 N.m continuous output at the rated speed, that heat has to be dissipated through the black anodized aluminium housing — no external cooling is assumed, so the ambient temperature range of -25 to 90 °C sets the thermal boundary.
Service life and load limits at rated speed
Rated service life is 30,000 hours at 100 rpm output speed and 30 °C ambient. The gearbox is lubricated for life, so no maintenance interval for oil changes — the life rating is the replacement trigger. Axial and radial force limits depend on the duty cycle target: at 100 rpm and 30 °C, the maximum axial force Fa is 6000 N for the 30,000-hour life target, or 8000 N if you accept a 10,000-hour service life. Similarly, maximum radial force Fr applied at mid-distance from the output shaft is 4200 N for 30,000 hours or 6000 N for 10,000 hours. These are not separate ratings — they trade life against load.
Backlash and positioning accuracy
Maximum torsional backlash is 10 arc.min — this is the angular play at the output shaft when the input is locked. For indexing or positioning applications where cumulative error matters, this figure sets the repeatability floor; a lower-backlash variant would be needed for sub-arcmin positioning. Torsional rigidity is 41 N.m/arcmin, which means the output shaft twists 1 arcmin for every 41 N.m of applied torque. That stiffness couples with the backlash figure to determine the total positioning error under load.
Mounting and environmental sealing
Mounting position is any position, so the gearbox can be flange-mounted in any orientation without derating. The shaft output carries an IP54 rating — protected against dust ingress and splashing water, but not submersion or high-pressure washdown. Shaft material is C45 carbon steel, and the housing is black anodized aluminium. Noise level is 70 dB at 1 m under no-load conditions — expect a few dB higher under full load depending on the motor coupling and mounting stiffness.
