Planetary gearbox, 160 mm, 16:1 reduction
The GBX1600161002F is a straight-tooth planetary gearbox from Schneider Electric's GBX series, with a 160 mm outer diameter and 16:1 reduction ratio. Rated for 800 N.m continuous output torque at 100 rpm and 30 °C, with a maximum intermittent torque of 1280 N.m under the same conditions. Torsional rigidity is 41 N.m/arcmin, and maximum backlash is held to 10 arc.min — tight enough for positioning axes that don't need zero-backlash precision.
Torque, life, and load capacity
Service life is 30000 hours at rated torque and speed — that's about 3.4 years of continuous 24/7 operation before the bearings or gears wear past spec. Maximum axial force on the output shaft is 6000 N for the full 30000-hour life, or 8000 N if you accept a shorter 10000-hour service interval. Maximum radial force is 4200 N at mid-shaft for 30000 hours, or 6000 N for 10000 hours — the radial limit drops faster than the axial one as you extend the duty cycle.
Construction and environmental fit
Housing is black anodized aluminium; the output shaft is C45 steel. Noise level is 70 dB at 1 m under no-load conditions — audible but not objectionable in a typical machine room.
No official successor or cross-reference is recorded from the manufacturer. The GBX series has been superseded by newer planetary families, but no pin-mount or bolt-pattern equivalent is listed. Available through independent surplus and broker channels.
