Panel PC for the line — what the specs mean for fit
The HMIPUF9D0PL1 is a 19-inch industrial panel PC from the Schneider Electric Harmony iPC range, built around an Intel Atom N270 processor at 1.66 GHz with 2 GB DDR3 RAM and a 60 GB SLC SSD for storage. The 1280 x 1024 SXGA active matrix TFT LCD with LED backlight delivers 16 million colours at 300 cd/m² luminance, readable in typical factory ambient light. The analogue resistive touch panel is the workhorse choice for gloved-hand operation on the plant floor — no capacitive false-trigger issues when operators wear PPE. Power supply is 24 VDC nominal (18...30 V limits), drawing 6.7 A rated with a 7 A inrush. At 130 W steady-state, this is a self-contained computing node that needs a properly sized 24 VDC circuit — not a USB-powered tablet. The fanless cooling (no moving parts) means no filter changes and no fan-failure downtime, which matters on a line where the HMI runs 24/7. Front panel is IP65 (NEMA 4X), so it withstands washdown splashes and dust ingress when mounted in a cabinet door. The bezel is aluminium alloy; the enclosure uses treated steel. Fixing kit is included for both enclosure-door and panel mounting — no extra hardware to source.
Software stack and connectivity
The unit ships with MS Windows XP Professional SP3 multi-language, and includes Vijeo Designer run-time demo plus Vijeo Citect client/server (500 I/O). For a new line today, the Windows XP environment is a legacy constraint — plan for application compatibility and network isolation if this goes on a plant floor with modern IT policies. Ethernet is 10/100/1000BASE-T, so it connects to the control network at modern speeds. Memory and storage: 512 KB SRAM for battery-backed real-time data, 2 GB DDR3 for application runtime, and a 60 GB SLC SSD. SLC flash is the right choice for industrial write endurance — much longer life than consumer MLC in a logging application.
