Panel fit and display
The HMISTO511S is a 3.4-inch backlit monochrome STN LCD touch panel from the Schneider Harmony STO & STU range. Resolution is 200 x 80 pixels with 16-level contrast and 8-level brightness adjustable via the analogue touch layer. The display supports Chinese (simplified and traditional), Korean, Japanese (ANK, Kanji), and ASCII character fonts — relevant if the line HMI needs to render East-Asian text natively without a custom font download.
Supply and environment
Runs on 24 V DC ±20 %, drawing 5 W typical. Inrush current hits 30 A on power-up, so size the panel-side PSU with enough headroom to avoid a brownout on the 24 V bus. The front panel carries IP65 and NEMA 4X (indoor use) protection — suitable for washdown zones in food or beverage lines where hose-down cleaning is routine. The rear enclosure is IP20, so the back of the panel stays inside the cabinet. Mounts via two spring clips for panel thickness 1.6 to 5 mm; cut-out dimensions follow the 3.05 in (77.5 mm) height by 4.6 in (116.5 mm) width footprint.
Connectivity and protocols
One USB 2.0 type mini B for programming, one USB 2.0 type A for data transfer or peripheral connection, and a COM1 serial link on a female RJ45 supporting RS232C or RS485 up to 115.2 kbits/s. Downloadable protocols include Modbus and Uni-TE, plus third-party protocols — covers the common fieldbus landscape for Schneider and third-party PLCs. The CPU is a RISC processor running at 333 MHz with 16 MB application memory and 128 kB backup for data retention.
