What it is – a single-pole DC contactor for high-voltage resistive loads
The Schneider LC1E500BSCT1S260N is a 1-pole DC contactor from the Easy TeSys Control range, designed for switching resistive loads up to 1500 V DC and 500 A continuous. It uses a 24 V DC coil and meets IEC 60947-4-1 and GB/T 14048.4 standards. The impedance is just 0.5 mOhm at Ith 500 A, and it's rated for 300,000 mechanical cycles. This is not your typical AC motor contactor – it's built for DC applications where high voltage and moderate current switching are needed, like battery banks, solar DC bus disconnects, or industrial DC load breakers. With a maximum switching voltage of 1500 V DC and insulation voltage of 1500 V, it's a solid choice for 1500 V DC rail systems.
Mounting & panel fit – vertical support, M8 power terminals
Dimensions: 4.09 in deep, 2.8 in wide, 4.2 in tall. It's designed for vertical mounting (support included). IP60 protection keeps out dust; not a sealed IP65, so keep it in a dry cabinet. Torque the power circuit to 70.8–88.5 lbf·in (8–10 N·m) using the supplied M8 nut, flat and spring washers. The control circuit comes with a 30 cm 2-wire supply, so it's ready to wire into a 24 V DC control bus. One normally-open auxiliary contact is built in – useful for feedback to a PLC or status lamp.
Electrical performance – where this part lives
Rated for 500 A continuous, but can handle short overloads: 750 A for 15 min, 900 A for 120 s, and 8000 A for 5 ms (no fire, no explosion). The minimum switching voltage is 8 V DC, minimum current 0.1 A, so it's suitable for both heavy and light loads. Electrical endurance under DC stress: 1000 cycles at 750 V DC and 500 A resistive breaking, 800 cycles at 1000 V DC and 500 A, 500 cycles at 1500 V DC and 500 A. Coil dropout occurs at 0.1–0.75 Uc. Ambient temperature range is -40 to 85 °C. Operates at altitudes up to 4000 m without derating.
