TeSys F 4-pole contactor, 400 A AC-1 — LC1F3304V7
The Schneider Electric LC1F3304V7 is a TeSys F 4-pole contactor with a 400 V AC 50/60 Hz coil, rated for 400 A in AC-1 utilisation category (resistive load) at ≤ 440 V and ≤ 40 °C. It carries four normally open power poles and is plate-mounted — no DIN-rail clip, so factor in panel drilling and busbar work for the power circuit bolted connection or lugs up to 240 mm². Rated impulse withstand voltage is 8 kV (overvoltage category III), and insulation voltage is 1000 V per IEC 60947-4-1 or 1500 V per VDE 0110 group C. The contactor meets EN 60947-4-1, IEC 60947-4-1, and JIS C8201-4-1 — the usual suite for industrial switching gear.
What the ratings mean for fit
The 400 A AC-1 rating governs resistive loads like heaters or lighting banks. For motor duty (AC-3), you'd need to derate — this contactor is not specified for AC-3, so it is not the right choice for switching induction motors directly. The 4 NO pole configuration means all four poles close together; if your circuit needs any NC auxiliary, you'll add a separate block. Coil hold-in draws 10 VA at 400 V AC, with an inrush of 650 VA. The control circuit voltage limits are 0.85–1.1 Uc for pickup and 0.35–0.55 Uc for drop-out at 55 °C. Rated breaking capacity is 2640 A per IEC 60947-4-1, and the associated fuse recommendation is 400 A aM or 500 A gG at ≤ 440 V. That gives you a selectivity starting point for the upstream protection. The contactor is rated for 10 million mechanical cycles and can run at 2400 operations per hour at 55 °C — fine for high-duty-cycle resistive switching.
Mounting and integration notes
Plate-mounted only — no DIN-rail adapter. The contactor measures 261 mm wide × 206 mm high × 219 mm deep. Power circuit connections accept lugs up to 240 mm² or busbar up to 30 × 5 mm via bolted connection. Control circuit uses screw clamp terminals accepting 1–4 mm² flexible or solid wire (with or without ferrule). Tightening torque: 1.2 N·m on control, 35 N·m on power. IP20 front face with shrouds per IEC 60529 and VDE 0106 — protected against finger contact but not water ingress, so keep it inside a cabinet. Protective treatment is TH (tropicalised) for humid environments. Operating temperature range is –5 to 55 °C; storage from –60 to 80 °C. No derating needed up to 3000 m altitude.
