Product details

The Schneider LC3D09AU7 is a TeSys D star delta starter — a pre-wired assembly that reduces inrush current during motor startup by connecting the windings in star, then switching to delta for running. It carries 3 x 3P (3 NO) power poles and is rated 9 A in AC-3 utilisation category, which is the standard duty for squirrel-cage motor switching. The 240 V AC coil is sized for common control voltages in industrial panels. IP20 front-face protection means the terminals are finger-safe once the panel door is closed, but the unit itself is not sealed against washdown — it belongs inside an enclosure.

Rated for operation from -40 to 70 °C, storage from -60 to 80 °C, and altitude up to 3000 m without derating. Climatic withstand conforms to IACS and IEC 60947-1 Annex Q category D, covering damp-heat and salt-mist environments common in marine and coastal installations.

Vibration and Shock Tolerance

Mechanical robustness is specified for vibration: 2 Gn contactor open, 4 Gn contactor closed, both over 5–300 Hz. Shock tolerance is 10 Gn open, 15 Gn closed for 11 ms.

Frequently asked questions

What is the utilisation category and what does it mean for my motor load?

It is rated AC-3, which covers starting and switching off squirrel-cage motors under running conditions. The 9 A rating is the maximum motor current it can handle in that duty — match it to your motor's full-load current, not the breaker rating.
