What this enclosed starter carries
The Schneider Electric LG7K09Q714 is a TeSys LG enclosed direct-on-line starter rated for 4 kW at 400/415 V AC (50/60 Hz) and 4 kW at 440 V AC, with a lower rating of 1.5 kW at 220/230 V AC. It's built for AC-3 motor switching — the standard category for squirrel-cage motors during starting and stopping — so the 4 kW figure is the motor load it handles, not a resistive current. Inside the polycarbonate box sits a contactor (LC1K) and a circuit-breaker (GV2ME) with thermal protection adjustable from 6 to 10 A. That adjustment range matches the motor full-load current for a 4 kW motor at 400 V — set it to the motor nameplate FLA, not the max. The control circuit runs on 380/400 V AC, so the coil voltage matches the line supply. No separate control transformer needed if the motor supply is 400 V three-phase.
IP55 and IK07 — what the enclosure buys you
IP55 means dust-protected and protected against water jets from any direction. That's good for washdown areas, outdoor installations under eaves, or anywhere a hose might hit the panel. IK07 impact resistance (2 J) handles accidental tool drops during maintenance — not armoured, but enough for a standard industrial floor. Cable entries: four knockouts top and bottom, two Pg 13 and two Pg 16 per side. That gives you room for the motor leads, control wires, and a spare.
Built-in safety and control
The front panel carries a white push-button for start, a black push-button for stop, and a red mushroom-head emergency stop. That covers the basic local control and emergency-off requirement per IEC 60204-1. The starter itself is listed to IEC 60947-4-1 (the standard for contactors and motor-starters) and IEC 60204-1 (safety of machinery).
This is a current-production part, so lead times are the usual factory cycle — no broker scavenger hunt needed.
