The LP1K1210SD3 is a 3-pole contactor from the Schneider TeSys K series, rated for 12 A in AC-3 and AC-3e utilisation categories at 440 V, with a 72 V DC coil that includes an integral suppression device. The 3 NO power poles are normally open, meaning the contactor closes to connect the load when the coil is energised. The coil operates on 72 V DC with a hold-in power draw of 3 W at 20 °C and an inrush of 3 W at the same temperature. The integral suppression device handles the inductive kick from the DC coil, so you do not need an external flyback diode or RC snubber across the coil terminals. Operating time is 30 to 40 ms for coil energisation and NO closing, and 10 ms for coil de-energisation and NO opening — useful when sequencing contactors in a motor starter or reversing circuit. One built-in instantaneous 1 NO auxiliary contact is included, rated for signalling circuits down to 5 mA and 17 V minimum switching. That covers most PLC digital input or relay interface requirements without adding a separate auxiliary block.
Mounting, wiring, and panel integration
Screw-clamp terminals accept one or two conductors: solid 1.5 to 4 mm², flexible without ferrule 0.75 to 4 mm², or flexible with ferrule 0.34 to 2.5 mm². Tightening torque is 0.8 to 1.3 N·m. Heat dissipation is 1.3 W, which is low enough that no special ventilation is needed in a typical panel, but account for it in the overall thermal budget if the enclosure is sealed and densely packed.
Operating conditions and derating
Rated for ambient air temperatures from -25 °C to +50 °C during operation, and storage from -50 °C to +80 °C. Maximum operating rate is 3600 cycles per hour. Altitude derating starts above 2000 m — no derating needed below that. Electrical durability varies by utilisation category: 1.3 million cycles at 12 A in AC-3 or AC-3e, 0.3 million cycles at 20 A in AC-1, and 0.02 million cycles at 72 A in AC-4. Mechanical durability is 10 million cycles.
