The Schneider TeSys Ultra LUCL12ES is a magnetic control unit — the switching element inside a motor starter or controller assembly. It is rated for 5.5 kW at 400...440 V AC and up to 9 kW at 690 V AC for three-phase motor loads, with utilisation categories AC-41, AC-43, and AC-44 covering resistive, motor, and mixed loads. The coil operates at 48 V AC or 48...72 V DC, drawing 35 mA sealed at 48 V AC with LUB12, or 45 mA with LUB32 or LUB38. Opening takes 35 ms, closing 60 ms.
This unit mounts via plug-in (front face) into a TeSys Ultra base — no DIN-rail clip, it docks onto a fixed socket. The IP20 front panel and wired terminals suit enclosed panel installation; IP40 on the front face outside the connection zone adds splash protection during cabinet door operation. The LUCL12ES is specifically listed for protection of variable-speed drives or soft-start/soft-stop units, not just across-the-line motors. The tripping threshold is 14.2 x Ir +/- 20 %, a magnetic-only instantaneous release. It is not a thermal overload — that function comes from a separate TeSys Ultra thermal overload relay in the same assembly. Standards coverage includes EN/IEC 60947-6-2, UL 60947-4-1, and CSA C22.2 No 60947-4-1 (all with phase barrier). Safe separation of circuits is maintained at 400 V SELV between control/auxiliary and main circuits.
