MicroLogic 5.0 X — what this control unit does
The Schneider Electric LV839222 is a MicroLogic 5.0 X electronic control unit for the MasterPacT range of air circuit breakers. It provides LSI protection (long-time, short-time, instantaneous) with adjustable settings, plus integrated power metering and an LCD display (128 x 96 pixels) for local readout of currents, voltages, power, energy, harmonics, and event logs. Rated for use with MasterPacT frames, the trip unit is configurable for 3-pole or 4-pole breakers and supports a wide range of sensor ratings from 400 A up to 6300 A. That means one control unit can be specified across multiple breaker frame sizes, simplifying BOM management.
Protection and metering in one package
The LSI protection suite covers overload (long-time, ANSI 49), short-time short-circuit (ANSI 51), and instantaneous short-circuit (ANSI 50). Long-time pickup is adjustable from 0.4 to 1 x In in 1 A steps, and the long-time delay can be set between 12.5 and 600 s at 1.5 x Ir. Short-time delay is also adjustable, and zone selective interlocking (ZSI) is included for tighter coordination between downstream breakers. Beyond protection, this unit functions as a power meter with Class 0.5 accuracy on voltage and current, and Class 1 on active energy. It measures all standard electrical parameters — per-phase and total — including THD, unbalance, earth leakage, and demand values. The data recording includes event logs, min/max values, alarm logs, and maintenance logs with time stamping.
Communication and diagnostics
For local configuration and data retrieval, the MicroLogic 5.0 X includes Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC, and a USB port. The diagnostics suite goes beyond simple trip cause indication — it tracks breaker health state, MicroLogic service life, contact state, and provides a system health overview. Protection and selectivity tests can be run from the HMI, and trip context data is available for post-event analysis.
Designed for distribution applications per IEC standards, the LV839222 complies with EN/IEC 60947-2 (circuit breakers), EN/IEC 60255-1 (measuring relays), and EN/IEC 60092-202 (marine electrical installations). The unit can be mounted at altitudes up to 5000 m with voltage derating above 560 V AC.
