MasterPact MTZ2 — 1000 A, 4P, Fixed-Mount Power Breaker
The LV846201 is a Schneider Electric MasterPact MTZ2 fixed-mount circuit breaker, 4 poles, rated 1000 A at 40 °C with an H2V performance class delivering 100 kA Ics at 440 V AC. It is designed for power distribution protection in main switchboards and industrial feeders where high short-circuit withstand and selectivity are critical. The breaking time is capped at 25 ms, and the closing response time at 70 ms — fast enough to limit let-through energy on a bus fault.
Short-Circuit Performance and Selectivity
Category B selectivity means the breaker is designed to coordinate with downstream devices so a fault on a branch does not take the main bus down. The Icw ratings back this up: 100 kA for 0.5 s and 1 s, 75 kA for 3 s — enough to ride through a delayed trip on a feeder. Making capacity Icm is 220 kA at 440 V AC, confirming the contacts can close into a bolted fault without welding. The H2V variant is specified for 100 kA at 415 V AC, which covers most 400 V class industrial installations. If your system is 480 V or 600 V, verify the derating curve — the Ics at 440 V is 100 kA, but higher voltages reduce that figure.
Fixed-mount on rails or a base plate. Connection pitch is 115 mm. Both upside and downside connections accept front or rear termination — choose rear for a clean switchboard layout, front for panel access. Neutral is on the right. The unit ships without a control unit (push-button control type), so factor in the Micrologic trip unit separately.
Environmental and Installation Conditions
IP30 protection — suitable for a closed switchboard, not for washdown areas. Operating altitude is 0–2000 m without derating; above that, derate per the manufacturer's curve.
