Control unit for MasterPacT breakers — what it does and what to check
The Schneider Electric LV847609 is a MicroLogic 5.0 X electronic control unit for the MasterPacT range of air circuit breakers. It provides LSI protection (long-time, short-time, instantaneous) plus comprehensive power metering and diagnostics, all via a 128 x 96 pixel LCD display. The trip unit supports multiple sensor ratings from 400 A up to 6000 A (the listed range includes 400 A, 600 A, 800 A, 1000 A, 1200 A, 1600 A, 2000 A, 2500 A, 3000 A, 3200 A, 3600 A, 4000 A, 5000 A, and 6000 A). Pole configuration is 4P 3d (three protected poles, one neutral), with options for 4P 4d, 4P 3d + N/2, and 4P 3d + OSN. Neutral protection is selectable per those configurations.
LSI protection covers overload (long-time, adjustable 0.4–1 x In in 1 A steps), short-time (adjustable delay 0–0.4 s with I²t on/off), and instantaneous short-circuit. Zone selective interlocking (ZSI) is included — this lets multiple breakers in a cascade communicate fault location, reducing stress on upstream gear during a downstream fault. Metering covers all standard electrical parameters: per-phase and average voltage (phase-to-phase and phase-to-neutral), current (I1, I2, I3, Iavg, neutral, ground fault), active/reactive/apparent power and energy, power factor, frequency, THD for current and voltage, unbalance, and demand values. Accuracy is ±0.5 % for current and voltage, ±1 % for active power and energy, ±2 % for reactive quantities. Communication ports include Bluetooth 4.0 LE (30 kbit/s), NFC (28800 baud), and USB (115 kbaud). The unit logs maintenance events, alarms, min/max values, and trip context — useful for post-fault analysis without a separate data logger.
