MasterPact MTZ2 3200 A — fixed-mount power breaker
The LV848181 is a Schneider Electric MasterPact MTZ2 fixed circuit breaker, 4-pole, rated 3200 A at 40 °C. Selectivity category B confirms it is designed for full discrimination downstream, critical for a main breaker in a distribution panel where you want only the faulted branch to trip.
Breaking performance and coordination
Rated short-time withstand current (Icw) is 85 kA for 0.5 s and 1 s, 75 kA for 3 s. That Icw figure governs the breaker's ability to hold a fault while downstream breakers clear — essential for zone-selective interlocking schemes. Making capacity (Icm) peaks at 220 kA at 415 V AC, which is the peak asymmetrical current the breaker can close into and latch. Maximum breaking time is 25 ms, fast enough to limit let-through energy for cable and busbar protection.
Fixed-mount design on rails or base plate. Connection pitch is 115 mm. Both upside and downside connections accept front or rear termination — rear connection is typical for switchboard busbar stabs; front connection suits cable-entry panels. Neutral position is right. Dimensions: 537 mm wide, 352 mm high, 300 mm deep. Panel cutout and busbar spacing must accommodate the fixed footprint — no slide-in cradle here.
Environmental and operational limits
Altitude derating: full rating up to 2000 m, derated above to 5000 m. IP30 enclosure means protection against tools >2.5 mm but not water — install in a clean, dry switchboard or enclosure. Power dissipation 420 W — factor into panel ventilation calculations.
