6300 A fixed-mount air breaker — selectivity and SCCR headroom
The Schneider Electric LV848196 is a MasterPact MTZ3 63 H1 fixed-mount air circuit breaker rated 6300 A at 40 °C, 4 poles, with rear upper and lower connections. The Ics (service breaking capacity) matches at 100 kA across 220/415 V through 660/690 V, so the breaker remains usable after a fault at those levels. Icw short-time withstand is also 100 kA for 3 seconds, giving full selectivity with downstream devices — a Category B breaker per IEC 60947-2. For a 6300 A main, that means a fault on a feeder branch won't trip the main, keeping the rest of the plant online. The operating range spans -25 to 70 °C, with full rated current at 40 °C; above that, standard thermal derating applies. Altitude operation is 0–2000 m without derating, 2000–5000 m with derating. The 12 kV impulse withstand (Uimp) covers transient overvoltages in solidly-grounded or impedance-grounded systems.
Integration — panel footprint and mounting
Fixed-mount design: the breaker sits on rails or a base plate. Dimensions are 997 mm wide × 352 mm high × 300 mm deep. Connection pitch is 230 mm between phases. The neutral pole is on the right (4P, right-side neutral). Control is push-button only — no electronic control unit is included, so you need the separate Micrologic trip unit (not part of this order code). Rear connections both top and bottom suit drawout-style switchgear cubicles where cabling enters from behind.
Durability and dissipation
Mechanical durability is 10 000 cycles with periodic preventive maintenance. Electrical endurance under AC-3 (motor switching) is 6000 cycles at 440/690 V. Maximum breaking time is 25 ms — fast enough to limit let-through energy in a high-fault-current scenario. Closing response time is 80 ms. Power dissipation at rated current is 650 W, which must be factored into switchgear ventilation calculations.
