Switch-disconnector for high-current distribution
The Schneider Electric LV848748 is a MasterPact MTZ2 16 HA10 switch-disconnector rated for 1600 A at 1150 V AC, 50/60 Hz, in a 3-pole drawout chassis mount. It meets EN/IEC 60947-3 and is certified for isolation (suitability for isolation: yes). The 1600 A continuous rating means it handles main feeder or large-load disconnect duty in LV distribution switchgear — not a motor-starter device, but a line-side isolator with make/break capability under load (utilisation categories AC-23A and AC-3).
Rated short-time withstand current (Icw) is 50 kA for 1 s and also 50 kA for 3 s — that tells you the switch can carry a fault current for up to 3 seconds without damage, which is critical for selective coordination downstream. Rated short-circuit making capacity (Icm) is 105 kA peak at 1150 V AC, meaning it can close onto a bolted fault at that level. Rated impulse withstand voltage (Uimp) is 12 kV, covering surge environments in industrial switchgear. These figures, combined with pollution degree 3 and the -25 to 70 °C operating range, suit it for unconditioned electrical rooms and heavy industrial installations.
Drawout mounting and panel integration
Drawout mounting means the switch-disconnector slides into a fixed chassis — no need to disconnect power cables for removal, which speeds maintenance and replacement on live-bus switchgear. The chassis mount and 115 mm connection pitch are standard for MasterPact MTZ2 drawout cassettes. Dimensions: 441 mm wide, 439 mm high, 403 mm deep. IP30 protection means it is touch-safe but not sealed — install inside a cabinet rated for the environment.
