The LX4FG190 is a replacement coil for the TeSys FG series of contactors, rated for a 190 V DC control circuit. It is a DC wide-range coil without a built-in suppressor module, meaning the installer must add external suppression (a free-wheeling diode or RC snubber) across the coil terminals to protect the control circuit from inductive kickback. Closing time is 30 to 40 ms; opening time is 30 to 50 ms. The coil draws an inrush current through 48 Ω at 20 °C, then holds through 9910 Ω at 20 °C — a typical DC economizer design that reduces holding power once the contactor is sealed. Operational voltage range is 0.85 to 1.1 Uc (161.5 to 209 V DC) at 55 °C; drop-out occurs between 0.15 and 0.2 Uc (28.5 to 38 V DC). Ambient operating temperature is -5 to 55 °C.
What to watch when specifying
Because the coil lacks a built-in suppressor, the panel builder must add one externally. A free-wheeling diode across the coil (cathode to positive) is the standard approach for DC control circuits; without it, the inductive flyback can damage PLC output cards or relay contacts driving the coil. The 190 V DC control voltage is non-standard for many panels — most DC control circuits run 24 V or 48 V. Verify that your control transformer and power supply deliver 190 V DC before ordering. The wide-range design (0.85 to 1.1 Uc) gives some margin, but a 24 V DC bus will not pull this coil in.
