The LX9FG550 is a specific replacement coil for the TeSys F contactor range, designed for a 550 V AC control circuit at 40...400 Hz with low-hold-in consumption. It draws 950...1180 VA inrush and settles to 8.9...10.9 VA holding, with an average resistance of 194 Ω inrush and 7550 Ω holding at 68 °F (20 °C). The coil operates without a built-in suppressor module, so the panel builder must add external suppression (RC snubber or varistor) across the coil terminals if driving from a PLC output or electronic controller — the inductive kick from the 26.3 H closed-circuit inductance will otherwise stress solid-state drivers.
Rated control voltage is 550 V AC. The operational voltage window is 0.85...1.1 Uc at 131 °F (55 °C), and drop-out occurs between 0.2...0.55 Uc. Operating time is 130 ms opening and 35 ms closing. The 35 ms close is fast for a 550 V coil; the 130 ms open is comparatively slow — factor this into safety circuit response time calculations if the coil is part of a guard-monitoring chain.
Deployment context
This coil mounts onto a TeSys F contactor in a control panel — typically DIN-rail or backplate mounted. The 550 V AC control circuit is common in 480 V line-voltage motor starters where the control transformer is omitted and the coil is fed directly from the line side through a control fuse. The ambient temperature range of -5...55 °C covers most indoor industrial environments, but the coil's heat dissipation of 8...9.8 W means it contributes to the panel's thermal load. In a densely packed enclosure with multiple TeSys F contactors running continuously, forced ventilation or a larger enclosure may be needed to stay within the rated ambient.
