TeSys F Contactor Coil — LX9FJ914
The LX9FJ914 is a specific replacement coil for the TeSys F contactor range, designated for the LX9FJ device short name. It is a field-replaceable component, not a complete contactor — you swap this onto the existing contactor frame when the coil fails or you need a different control voltage. Control circuit voltage is rated for 28-30 V DC or 35 V AC at 40-400 Hz, giving flexibility for DC control panels or AC circuits. The coil operates from 0.85 to 1.1 Uc at 55 °C and drops out between 0.3 and 0.5 Uc — the wide dropout margin means it won't chatter on a sagging supply. Opening time is 60 ms, closing time 20 ms. For a contactor coil, the closing time governs how fast the main poles make — 20 ms is standard for this frame size. The opening time of 60 ms is the mechanical break; arc extinction depends on the contactor's own arc chamber.
The coil carries no built-in suppressor module. If your application requires transient suppression (common on PLC-driven contactors with solid-state outputs), you must add an external RC snubber or varistor across the coil terminals. The TeSys F range offers dedicated suppressor modules for this purpose.
Thermal and Mechanical Ratings
Heat dissipation is 11.4 to 13.9 W. For panel thermal budgeting, use the higher figure — 13.9 W — as the continuous dissipation when the contactor is held in. This is not negligible; in a densely packed panel, multiple coils at this dissipation can raise internal temperature above the 55 °C ambient limit. Inrush power at pull-in is 500 VA at 20 °C, 40-400 Hz. The hold-in consumption drops to 23 VA. The inrush figure determines the minimum VA rating of the control transformer — a transformer sized only for the hold-in VA will sag on pull-in and may fail to close the contactor. Maximum operating rate is 3600 cycles per hour at 70 °C. For high-speed cycling applications (e.g., resistance welding controls or rapid reversing), verify the duty cycle against the thermal limit of the coil.
Integration Notes
The coil is designed for the TeSys F contactor platform. It mounts directly onto the LX9FJ contactor frame via the standard coil retention system — no special tools required. Ensure the contactor is de-energized and the main poles are open before replacing the coil. Ambient air temperature for operation is -5 to 55 °C. This is the air temperature around the coil, not the contactor's internal temperature.
