Product details

Coil for TeSys F contactors — 42 V AC/DC, no built-in suppressor

The LX9FJ916 is a specific replacement coil for the TeSys F contactor range, wound for 42 V AC (40–400 Hz) or 42 V DC control. It draws 500 VA inrush at 20 °C, settling to 23 VA holding, with a closed-circuit inductance of 0.22 H. The coil has no built-in suppressor module — you supply the external flyback diode (DC) or RC snubber (AC) across the terminals; omitting it will arc the control contacts on dropout. Operating times are 60 ms opening, 20 ms closing. That 3:1 open-to-close ratio matters in safety circuits where the contactor must drop out faster than it picks — verify your PLC cycle time can tolerate the 60 ms break before re-energizing.

Electrical and thermal limits

Coil resistance measures 4.03 Ω inrush and 43 Ω holding at 20 °C. Heat dissipation runs 11.4 to 13.9 W — enough to raise the temperature inside a crowded enclosure; keep adjacent wiring and smaller components clear of the coil body. The control voltage limits are 0.85–1.1 Uc for pickup (at 55 °C) and 0.3–0.5 Uc for dropout, so a 42 V nominal coil picks reliably at 35.7 V and drops between 12.6 and 21 V. Rated for 10 Mcycles mechanical endurance and a maximum operating rate of 3600 cycles per hour at 70 °C. That rate is the coil's thermal limit, not the contactor's — if the contactor carries heavy motor loads, the switching frequency will be lower.

Frequently asked questions

What is the control voltage for this coil?

42 V AC (40–400 Hz) or 42 V DC. Pickup range is 0.85–1.1 Uc at 55 °C; dropout is 0.3–0.5 Uc.

Does this coil include a built-in suppressor?

No. The coil has no built-in suppressor module. An external flyback diode (DC) or RC snubber (AC) must be added across the coil terminals to protect the control circuit from inductive kickback.

What is the heat dissipation of this coil?

11.4 to 13.9 W, depending on the control voltage and temperature. Account for this thermal load in your enclosure sizing.
