Coil for TeSys F contactors — 28-31 V DC low-consumption variant
The LX9FK914 is a specific replacement coil for the TeSys F contactor range, designed for 28-31 V DC control circuits with low-consumption electronics that pull 550 VA inrush and drop to 31 VA holding power at 20 °C. That inrush-to-hold ratio matters for DC-supply sizing: the coil draws a heavy initial pulse, then settles to a fraction of that. The control circuit accepts both AC (40-400 Hz) and DC supplies, but the voltage range is DC-only — 28-31 V DC operational, with dropout between 0.3 and 0.5 Uc (roughly 8.4-15.5 V DC).
Switching timing and thermal budget
Opening takes 60 ms, closing 50 ms — standard for a DC-operated coil of this size. The coil dissipates 15-18.3 W continuously, which means the panel designer needs to account for that heat in a confined enclosure, especially if multiple contactors are ganged.
Mechanical endurance and operating rate
That rate is the mechanical limit — actual electrical life depends on the load switched (AC-1, AC-3, etc.) and will typically be lower for motor loads.
Suppressor note — external diode required
This coil ships without a built-in suppressor module. For DC control circuits, a free-wheeling diode must be added across the coil terminals to prevent voltage spikes when de-energizing. Without it, the inductive kick can damage PLC outputs or relay contacts driving the coil. Schneider offers a range of add-on suppressor modules (e.g., the LA4 series) that clip onto the contactor base.
