Application fit and power stage
The Schneider Electric LXM18ESU04M2X is a 0.4 kW motion servo drive from the Easy Lexium 18 series, built for single-phase 220...240 V supply lines. The continuous output current is 2.8 A at the 8 kHz switching frequency, with a 3 s peak capability of 9.6 A for acceleration transients. The drive draws 4.9 A line current at full load, so the upstream single-phase supply and branch circuit protection must be sized for this draw including the 184.65 % factor at 220...240 V. Integrated STO (Safe Torque Off) meets the safety function requirement for unplanned axis stops without removing power from the drive — this eliminates the need for an external safety relay in many guarding circuits.
Communication and I/O
EtherCAT is the real-time motion bus, and the drive also carries integrated digital I/O for limit switches, homing, and general-purpose control without an additional I/O module. No EMC filter is built in — the drive ships without one.
Panel fit and environmental limits
The compact housing measures 48 mm wide, 155.5 mm high, and 166.5 mm deep — a 48 mm width means it occupies a single standard 48 mm-wide slot in a cabinet or on a DIN rail. IP20 protection requires installation inside a closed electrical enclosure.
