Compact servo drive for single-phase 220-240 V lines
The LXM18PDU01M2X is a Schneider Electric Easy Lexium 18 motion servo drive rated at 0.1 kW nominal power at 220...240 V single-phase input, switching at 8 kHz. It delivers 1.2 A continuous output current at that switching frequency, with a 3.9 A peak for three seconds — enough to handle short-duration acceleration or torque bumps without tripping the drive. The supply voltage envelope is 170...255 V single phase at 50/60 Hz, so it holds the unit on the grid through the typical sag and swell range you see on lightly loaded shop-floor circuits. Line current draw is 1.4 A at nominal voltage, which keeps the branch-circuit breaker and wire gauge modest — a 10 A B-curve MCB per phase is adequate provided the cable run stays under 30 metres.
Panel fit and integration constraints
IP20 protection means it belongs in a clean, dry cabinet; no washdown exposure. The drive ships without an internal EMC filter, so plan for an external line filter at the cabinet entry to meet conducted-emission limits under EN 61800-3. Operating ambient is -5 to 45 °C, with altitude derating starting above 1000 m. If the cabinet sits near a heat source — a transformer or braking resistor — keep the internal air temperature below 45 °C at the drive intake, or the continuous output current must be derated per the manufacturer's curve.
Communication and I/O set for point-to-point positioning
The drive integrates Modbus RTU over RS-485, plus dedicated digital I/O, two analogue inputs, PTI (pulse-train input) for step/direction commands, and PTO (pulse-train output) for position feedback to a master controller. This I/O mix suits a standalone indexing axis or a simple pick-and-place station where the PLC sends step/direction pulses and reads the drive status over hardwired signals — no fieldbus coupler needed.
