The MGN60885 is a Schneider Electric C60N miniature circuit-breaker from the Multi9 range, a 2-pole (2P) thermal-magnetic device rated 40 A at 50 °C per EN/IEC 60947-2. The C-curve trips magnetically at 8.5 x In (±20 %), so it holds through motor inrush and transformer energisation but clears a hard short inside half a cycle — the right characteristic for distribution circuits feeding mixed inductive and resistive loads, provided the downstream coordination study respects the 20 kA Icu at 240 V AC phase-to-phase. It is also rated for isolation, meaning the open contacts give a verifiable air gap that holds the unit on the grid during a lockout-tagout.
Breaking capacity follows the voltage: 20 kA Icu at 240 V AC, 10 kA at 415 V AC, 6 kA at 440 V AC — all phase-to-phase per EN/IEC 60947-2. For a 400/415 V distribution panel that means the MGN60885 coordinates downstream of a 25 kA-rated main breaker, provided the let-through energy of the upstream device stays below the 10 kA withstand of this pole. The 4-module width (36 mm, 4 x 9 mm pitches) fits standard DIN-rail enclosures without crowding the busbar feed.
Snaps onto 35 mm symmetrical DIN rail, fixed mounting only — no plug-in base. Tunnel-type terminals accept 1.5 to 35 mm² rigid or flexible (with or without ferrule); strip length is 14 mm, torque to 3.5 N·m. The IP20 finger-safe front is standard for enclosed panels; pollution degree 3 per EN/IEC 60947-2 means it tolerates conductive dust in industrial environments, provided the enclosure maintains the rated clearance.
