DC-rated miniature circuit breaker for distribution panels
The Schneider Electric MGN61885 is a Multi9 C60H-DC miniature circuit breaker rated 20 A at 50 °C per EN/IEC 60947-2, with a K-curve magnetic trip set at 12 x In ±20 % for DC networks. It is a 2-pole (2P) device, meaning both poles switch and protect the DC circuit — no shared neutral path. The breaking capacity reaches 20 kA Icu at 250 V DC and 10 kA Icu at 440 V DC, so it handles fault currents on common 250 V and 440 V DC bus voltages found in industrial control and telecom distribution. Clip it onto a DIN rail (4 module pitches, 36 mm wide) inside an IP40 modular enclosure or an IP20 panel. The tunnel terminals accept 1…25 mm² rigid stranded or 1…16 mm² flexible, single or dual conductors, with a stripping length of 14 mm and a tightening torque of 2.5 N.m. This covers most panel wiring from control-circuit feeds to small distribution subfeeds.
K-curve trip and DC-only application
The K-curve (12 x In magnetic trip) is chosen for DC loads with moderate inrush — think DC motor drives, solenoid banks, or capacitive loads where a B-curve would nuisance-trip and a Z-curve would be too slow. The thermal-magnetic trip unit provides overload protection via the bimetal strip and short-circuit protection via the solenoid. This is a DC-only breaker (network type DC). The rated operational voltages are 220 V DC, 250 V DC, 440 V DC, and 500 V DC, with an insulation voltage of 500 V DC. Do not apply it on AC circuits — the arc extinction method and magnetic trip calibration are specific to DC.
Environmental and compliance ratings
IP20 finger-safe terminals; IP40 when installed in a modular enclosure.
