What this 800 A PowerPact M breaker is for
The MGP36800SA is a 3-pole PowerPact M molded case circuit breaker rated 800 A continuous, built for distribution and HACR-rated applications. At 800 A, this lands in the heavy end of the PowerPact M line; it's sized for the main disconnect on a large panelboard, a switchboard feeder, or a motor control center bus.
Rated 65 kA AIR at 240 V AC, 35 kA at 480 V, and 18 kA at 600 V per UL 489. Under IEC 60947-2, the Icu is 50 kA at 240 V and 35 kA at 380/415 V.
Trip unit and adjustments
The ET 1.0 is the entry-level electronic trip in the PowerPact M family. Magnetic pickup is fixed at 1600 to 8000 A.
Mounting, wiring, and panel fit
Unit-mount lug configuration — the breaker ships with line and load lugs rated for 3 x AWG 3/0 to 3 x 500 kcmil copper or aluminum. Tightening torque is 50 N·m (442.5 lbf·in) on the main lugs.
Accessory slots and control wiring
Two slots for plug-in auxiliary switch OF modules, one slot for a plug-in alarm switch SD, and one slot for a plug-in shunt trip (MN or MX) or undervoltage release. The shunt trip listed with this part is 110 to 130 V AC/DC — verify your control voltage matches; the release coil draws steady-state current only during the trip pulse. The operating handle is the standard rotary mechanism; no motor operator is included on this base variant.
Carries UL 489, CSA, NEMA, NOM-003-SCFI-2000, and IEC 60947-2 marks. CE quality label for European installations. HACR-rated per UL — suitable for heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment branch circuits where the breaker must withstand starting inrush without nuisance tripping.
