Motor specs that decide the BOM fit
The MH31001P11F2200 is a three-phase servo motor from the MH3 series, with a 100 mm flange and a holding brake that pulls in at 12 W. The nominal torque is 3.3 N.m at 1520 W continuous power, and the peak stall torque reaches 10.8 N.m across a 115–480 V three-phase supply. The single-turn SinCos Hiperface encoder gives absolute position within one revolution — enough for most point-to-point moves without a home cycle, but not for multi-turn applications that need a battery-backed multiturn encoder.
Torque, inertia, and the cell handshake
Continuous stall torque is 3.4 N.m at 3.15 A continuous stall current, so the motor holds rated torque at zero speed without overheating under natural convection cooling. The holding brake torque is 5.5 N.m, which secures the vertical axis when power is removed — the brake pull-in power is 12 W, so the 24 VDC brake supply needs to deliver that continuously during a hold.
IP65 and natural convection — where it runs
IP65 protection means the motor body is sealed against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets — suitable for washdown areas in food processing or machining coolant splash, provided the cable connectors are mated and the shaft seal is intact. Cooling is natural convection, so no external fan or coolant circuit is needed, but the ambient temperature around the motor must stay within the copper hot limit of 135 °C (275 °F) at full continuous torque.
