What this servo motor delivers on a motion axis
The MH31003P16F2200 is a three-phase servo motor from the MH3 series, rated for 3270 W continuous power at 4000 rpm nominal speed. That power density comes from a 5-pole design with natural convection cooling, so no external fan is needed — the motor sheds heat through the flange and housing into the machine frame. The holding brake is built in, rated for 9 N.m holding torque. This means the motor holds the vertical axis position when power is removed — no external brake resistor or mechanical lock needed for Z-axis applications up to that torque. Feedback is a single-turn SinCos Hiperface encoder — an absolute position sensor that reports the shaft angle on power-up without a homing move. The single-turn resolution covers one revolution; for multi-turn applications you would step up to the multi-turn variant in the same frame.
Torque curve that depends on your drive voltage
The nominal torque is not a single number — it varies with the drive supply voltage and whether the drive is single-phase or three-phase. At 115 V three-phase the motor delivers 8.45 N.m; at 480 V three-phase it delivers 6.25 N.m. The peak stall torque is 27 N.m across the 115–480 V three-phase range, which gives you the short-term overload margin for acceleration transients. Continuous stall torque is 9 N.m at any voltage in the 115–480 V three-phase range, meaning the motor can hold that torque indefinitely at standstill without overheating — useful for clamping or tensioning applications. The torque constant is 1.17 N.m/A at 120 °C copper temperature. That is the hot rating — the winding resistance rises with temperature, so the actual torque per amp at cold start is higher. Use the hot value for thermal sizing.
Mounting and mechanical interface — what fits
The motor flange is 100 mm (3.9 in) with an international standard flange pattern — 9 mm mounting holes on the standard bolt circle. The shaft is 19 mm diameter with a parallel key, 40 mm shaft length, 6 mm key width. This is a common IEC frame size; it bolts directly to most gearboxes and linear actuators in that class. Overall length is 234.3 mm (9.2 in). The centring collar depth is 3.5 mm — that is the register that aligns the motor flange to the mating face. The electrical connection uses rotatable right-angled connectors, which lets you route the cable in any of four directions without adding a junction box. IP65 rating means the motor body and the connector interface are dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets. Suitable for washdown areas and dusty production floors, but not for immersion or high-pressure spray.
