2.64 kW servo with brake — the torque numbers that matter
The MH31401P16F2200 delivers 2.64 kW continuous power at 400/480 V three-phase supply. The nominal torque is 9.36 N·m at the shaft, but the holding brake is rated 18 N·m — that's nearly double the continuous torque, meaning the brake can hold a vertical load that the motor can't lift continuously.
Encoder and feedback — single-turn SinCos Hiperface
The encoder is a single-turn SinCos Hiperface type — absolute position within one revolution, no multiturn count. If your application needs absolute position over multiple turns (e.g., a ball screw axis with travel longer than one motor rev), this encoder won't track it without an external multiturn interface. The back EMF constant is 77.41 V/krpm, and the torque constant is 1.2 N·m/A at 120 °C. These values let you calculate the drive voltage needed for a given speed and the current required for a given torque — essential when pairing with a Lexium LXM52 or LXM62 drive. Stator resistance is 0.69 Ω and inductance is 6.72 mH — the electrical time constant is about 9.7 ms, which limits the current-loop bandwidth to roughly 100 Hz. Higher-performance drives may need to account for this in tuning.
Mounting and cooling — natural convection, 140 mm flange
Cooling is natural convection — no fan, no forced air required. The motor is rated IP65, which means the housing is dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. In a washdown environment, the connector O-rings and shaft seal are the wet-end barrier, not just the housing. The flange is 140 mm (5.5 in) with an international standard pattern. The centring collar diameter is 130 mm with a 3.5 mm depth — this locates the motor axially on the machine frame. Mounting holes are 11 mm diameter on the bolt circle. The shaft is 24 mm diameter with a parallel key, 50 mm shaft length. Maximum radial force at the shaft end is 1930 N at 1000 rpm, dropping to 1340 N at 3000 rpm — overspeeding the bearing load limit shortens life faster than thermal overload.
