Three-phase servo with integrated holding brake
The MH31402P02F2200 is a three-phase servo motor from the Schneider Electric MH3 series, delivering 3.73 kW continuous power at 400/480 V three-phase supply. The integrated holding brake provides 18 N.m holding torque, so the load stays locked on power-down — no external brake resistor or mechanical lock needed for vertical-axis applications. The motor carries a Multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder, giving absolute position feedback over multiple shaft revolutions. This means the drive knows the exact rotor position at power-up without a homing cycle — a time-saver on machines that power-cycle between shifts.
Torque and overload capability
Continuous stall torque is 18.5 N.m across the 115...480 V three-phase range, with a continuous stall current of 16.83 A. The peak stall torque reaches 55.5 N.m — roughly 3× the continuous rating — for short-duration acceleration or load transients. The torque constant is 1.1 N.m/A at 120 °C copper temperature. Maximum mechanical speed is 4000 rpm, set by the bearing and rotor assembly. The nominal speed varies with drive voltage — 1000 rpm at 115 V single-phase, 2000 rpm at 230 V, and 3500 rpm at 400/480 V three-phase. The stator resistance is 0.23 Ohm and inductance 2.99 mH, giving a moderate electrical time constant for current-loop tuning.
Sealing, mounting, and cable routing
Cooling is by natural convection, so no external fan or coolant lines are needed; the 3.73 kW continuous rating assumes free airflow around the motor. The motor flange is 140 mm (IEC standard), with a centring collar diameter of 130 mm and depth of 3.5 mm. This mates directly with common gearbox input flanges and mounting patterns. The shaft is smooth, 24 mm diameter, 50 mm length — no keyway, so the coupling or pulley must clamp onto the smooth shaft surface. Electrical connection uses rotatable right-angled connectors, so the cable exit direction can be adjusted in the field — useful when the motor is mounted in a tight enclosure or against a machine frame. No second shaft end is provided.
