Three-phase servo with 3730 W continuous output
The MH31402P17A2200 is a three-phase servo motor from Schneider Electric's MH3 series, delivering 3730 W continuous power. It is designed for applications that demand sustained torque at speed — think indexing conveyors, rotary tables, or spindle drives where the duty cycle keeps the motor loaded through the full move profile. Nominal speed depends on the drive and supply voltage: 1000 rpm at 115 V single-phase, 2000 rpm at 230 V single-phase, or 3500 rpm at 400/480 V three-phase. The motor can spin up to 4000 rpm mechanical maximum, so the 3500 rpm rating leaves headroom for field weakening or overspeed transients.
Torque delivery and thermal limits
Nominal torque is 16.34 N.m at 115 V three-phase (144.62 lbf.in), tapering to 10.17 N.m at 400/480 V. Continuous stall torque is 18.5 N.m, and peak stall torque hits 55.5 N.m — that 3× margin over continuous stall covers acceleration and emergency stops without tripping the drive's current limit. Cooling is by natural convection — no fan, so the motor relies on its own surface area and the machine's airflow. The IP65 rating means the housing is sealed against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, making it suitable for washdown areas in food processing or machining coolant environments.
Encoder feedback and mechanical interface
The encoder is a multiturn SinCos Hiperface type — absolute position feedback over multiple revolutions, so the drive knows the shaft angle at power-up without a homing move. This matters for applications where the machine must resume position after a power cycle without re-referencing. The motor mounts on an international standard flange (140 mm flange size, 130 mm centring collar diameter, 3.5 mm collar depth) with four 11 mm mounting holes. The shaft is 24 mm diameter, 50 mm long, with a parallel key (8 mm key width) — a common interface for couplings and pulleys. Overall length is 192 mm. Electrical connection uses rotatable right-angled connectors, which let you route the cable in the tightest direction during installation — useful when the motor sits in a crowded machine frame. There is no second shaft end and no holding brake on this variant.
