Frame size, feedback, and the holding brake
The SH30552P02F2100 is a 55 mm flange servo motor (2.2 in) from the SH3 family, with a smooth shaft measuring 9 mm diameter and 20 mm length — a standard international flange mount that bolts directly to a gearbox or machine frame without a keyway. Feedback comes from an absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder — single-turn position is known on power-up, no homing cycle needed after a power loss, and the multiturn count tracks absolute revolutions over the full travel range. The holding brake delivers 0.8 N·m (7.08 lbf·in) static torque, enough to hold a vertical axis load at rest without power to the motor windings — the brake engages when the drive removes the 24 VDC release voltage.
Speed-torque envelope across supply voltages
Nominal speed depends on the supply: 2000 rpm on 115 V single-phase, 4000 rpm on 230 V single-phase, and 6000 rpm on 400 V or 480 V three-phase — the motor reaches its highest speed only when fed from a three-phase drive at 400 V or 480 V. Nominal torque also shifts with voltage: 0.77 N·m (6.82 lbf·in) at 115 V single-phase, 0.75 N·m at 230 V single-phase, and 0.63 N·m (5.58 lbf·in) at 400 V or 480 V three-phase — the torque drops at higher speeds because the constant-power region extends beyond the base speed. Continuous stall torque is 0.71 N·m (6.28 lbf·in) across the 115–480 V three-phase range, and peak stall torque reaches 2.5 N·m (22.1 lbf·in) — useful for short acceleration bursts or breaking through static friction.
Thermal limits and environmental sealing
Cooling is by natural convection — no fan, so the motor relies on the machine frame or mounting plate to conduct heat away; the copper winding hot-spot temperature is rated to 130 °C (266 °F). The motor body and shaft bushing both carry IP65 per IEC 60034-5 — sealed against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, suitable for washdown areas on packaging or food-processing lines where the connector is properly mated.
