Supply voltage drives the performance curve
The SH31001P01A1200: This SH3 servo motor delivers different speed and torque depending on what supply voltage you feed it. At 400 V three-phase, nominal speed hits 5000 rpm with 2.27 Nm nominal torque; at 480 V three-phase, same torque but 6000 rpm. Single-phase 115 V drops to 1250 rpm and 2.91 Nm, 230 V single-phase gives 2500 rpm at 2.64 Nm. Continuous power is 1190 W, but the nominal output power at the shaft varies from 410 W (115 V single-phase) up to 1630 W (480 V three-phase). The three-phase 400 V rating of 1410 W is the typical operating point for most applications. Peak stall torque is 9.6 Nm across the 115-480 V three-phase range — that's your acceleration and deceleration ceiling for short bursts. Continuous stall torque sits at 2.94 Nm, which is the thermal limit for holding torque or constant-force applications.
Encoder and feedback — drive matching matters
Absolute single-turn SinCos Hiperface encoder — no homing sequence needed on power-up, the position is known immediately. This encoder type is standard on Lexium 28 and Lexium 32 drives; confirm your drive's encoder interface supports Hiperface protocol before wiring. Back EMF constant is 60 V/krpm at 20 °C, torque constant is 0.84 Nm/A at 120 °C hot copper. These numbers matter for drive tuning: the back EMF limits how fast you can spin the motor before the drive runs out of bus voltage. Stator resistance 3.8 Ohm, inductance 9.5 mH — typical for a 1.2 kW frame. The electrical time constant is about 2.5 ms, which the drive's current loop needs to handle for smooth torque control at higher speeds.
Mounting and mechanical interface
International standard flange, 100 mm flange size, centring collar 95 mm diameter with 3.5 mm depth. Four mounting holes at 9 mm diameter on the flange face — standard bolt pattern for this frame class. Smooth shaft, 19 mm diameter, 40 mm shaft length — no keyway. You'll need a clamping-type coupling or a set-screw coupling with a flat spot machined; torque transmission relies entirely on the clamping force, not a key. Electrical connection options: rotatable right-angle connector or straight connector. The rotatable version helps in tight panels where cable exit direction matters. Overall motor length is 168.5 mm from mounting face to rear.
Environmental sealing and bearing loads
IP65 on the motor body and shaft bushing, IP67 on the housing per IEC 60034-5. The shaft bushing seal is the ingress point to watch — if the motor sees direct spray on the shaft end, the IP65 rating means it's protected but not submersible. Natural convection cooling, no fan, so keep airflow around the housing. Maximum radial force Fr derates with speed: 900 N at 1000 rpm, dropping to 530 N at 5000 rpm. Maximum axial force Fa is 160 N. If you're driving a belt or a high-overhung load, calculate the actual radial load at your operating speed against these limits to avoid bearing preload failure.
