Motor specs that decide the drive match
The SH31001P02F1200 is a three-phase servo motor from the SH3 series, delivering 1190 W continuous power. Its nominal speed depends on the supply: 1250 rpm at 115 V single-phase, 2500 rpm at 230 V single-phase, 5000 rpm at 400 V three-phase, and 6000 rpm at 480 V three-phase — so the same motor covers a wide speed range depending on the drive voltage you feed it. Nominal torque also shifts with voltage: 2.91 N·m at 115 V single-phase, 2.64 N·m at 230 V single-phase, and 2.27 N·m at both 400 V and 480 V three-phase. The peak stall torque is 9.6 N·m across the 115–480 V three-phase range, giving you a 4:1 torque margin for acceleration and overload events.
Encoder, feedback, and environmental protection
The absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder provides position feedback without needing a homing sequence on power-up — the drive knows the shaft angle and number of turns immediately. This saves time on multi-axis machines where each axis would otherwise need to find its reference. IP65 on the motor body and shaft bushing, IP67 on the housing per IEC 60034-5 — the motor withstands washdown and hose-directed water. Natural convection cooling (no fan) means no moving parts to clog or fail, but the thermal limit is 130 °C on the copper winding, so the continuous torque rating assumes free airflow around the frame. The torque constant is 0.84 N·m/A at 120 °C winding temperature — use this to calculate the drive current needed for a given torque demand. The back EMF constant is 60 V/krpm at 20 °C; at higher speeds the back EMF subtracts from the drive's available bus voltage, so check voltage margin if running near 6000 rpm on a 480 V bus.
Mechanical interface and load limits
The motor flange is 100 mm (3.9 in) with a 95 mm centring collar and 3.5 mm collar depth — standard international flange pattern for direct mounting to gearboxes or machine frames. The smooth shaft (19 mm diameter, 40 mm length) requires a clamping-type coupling or hub; no keyway is provided. Maximum radial force is 900 N at 1000 rpm, dropping to 530 N at 5000 rpm — belt or pulley loads must stay within this envelope to avoid bearing damage. Maximum axial force is 160 N, so direct thrust loads (like a lead screw) need a separate thrust bearing. Electrical connection options include both a rotatable right-angle connector and a straight connector — choose the one that fits your cable routing in the cabinet or on the machine frame.
The sizing reference is SH31001P — this is the base motor frame; the full order code includes the brake, encoder, connector, and shaft options. No direct pin-compatible alternative exists within the SH3 family; the motor is specified by its full order code for exact mechanical and electrical fit.
