Supply-dependent speed and torque — the real-world performance envelope
The SH31001P0BA4000 is a three-phase servo motor from the SH3 series, but its rated speed and torque shift with the input supply. At 230 V single-phase it delivers 2500 rpm and 2.64 N·m nominal torque; at 400 V three-phase it reaches 5000 rpm and 2.27 N·m; at 480 V three-phase it runs 6000 rpm at the same 2.27 N·m torque (cites:,). The nominal output power follows: 690 W on single-phase, 1190 W on either three-phase supply (cites:).
Encoder, feedback, and drive pairing
The feedback device is an absolute multiturn Hiperface DSL encoder (cites:). This is a digital serial interface that carries position and commutation data over a single cable pair — the drive must support Hiperface DSL protocol. The encoder type is non-negotiable for the drive selection; a drive that only accepts resolver or incremental encoder feedback will not work. The motor has 4 poles (cites:). The back EMF constant is 60 V/krpm at 20 °C (cites:), and the torque constant is 0.84 N·m/A at 120 °C (cites:). These values set the bus voltage needed to reach rated speed and the current-to-torque relationship at operating temperature.
Mechanical interface — shaft, flange, and cooling
The shaft is smooth (no keyway) with a 19 mm diameter and 40 mm length (cites:,). The coupling must be a clamp or collet type — a keyed coupling will not fit. The motor flange is 100 mm international standard (cites:), with a centring collar diameter of 95 mm and depth of 3.5 mm (cites:,). Mounting holes are 9 mm diameter (cites:). Cooling is by natural convection — no integrated fan (cites:). The motor relies on free airflow around the housing; mounting in a confined space or against a panel face will reduce the continuous torque capability. The IP rating is IP65 on the motor body but IP54 at the shaft bushing when the shaft seal ring is absent (cites:). For washdown environments, the shaft seal must be addressed separately.
Torque, current, and overload capability
Continuous stall torque is 2.94 N·m at 115–480 V three-phase, drawing a continuous stall current of 3.5 A (cites:,). Peak stall torque reaches 9.6 N·m on the same supply range, with a 3-second peak current of 12.0 A (cites:,). The maximum continuous current (Irms) is also 12.0 A (cites:). The drive must be sized to supply 12 A continuous and 12 A for 3-second overloads — the peak current equals the continuous maximum, so the overload capability is limited by the motor's thermal time constant, not the drive's peak current rating.
Bearing loads and connection options
Maximum radial force (Fr) on the shaft is 1930 N at 1000 rpm, 1530 N at 2000 rpm, and 1340 N at 3000 rpm (cites:). Maximum axial force (Fa) is 300 N (cites:). These limits govern belt tension or direct-drive coupling selection — exceeding them shortens bearing life. The electrical connection uses a straight connector and a quicklock rotatable right-angled connector (cites:,). The rotatable connector allows the cable exit to be oriented in the field, which helps in tight cable-tray routing or when the motor is mounted in a confined space.
