Speed-torque envelope across supply voltages
The SH31001P12F1200: This SH3 frame motor delivers 5000 rpm at 400 V three-phase and 6000 rpm at 480 V three-phase — the nominal torque at those voltages is 2.27 N.m, with continuous stall torque of 2.94 N.m across the 115...480 V three-phase range. On single-phase supplies the speed ceiling drops: 1250 rpm at 115 V and 2500 rpm at 230 V, with nominal torque of 2.91 N.m and 2.64 N.m respectively. The continuous output power follows the same curve — 1410 W at 400 V three-phase, 1630 W at 480 V three-phase, versus 410 W at 115 V single-phase. The 1190 W continuous power rating and 12.0 A maximum Irms define the thermal envelope under natural convection cooling — no fan is assumed in the rating, so the drive's current limit must be set to the motor's continuous stall torque of 2.94 N.m for sustained low-speed positioning.
Holding brake and encoder — axis hold and position feedback
The integrated holding brake delivers 9 N.m holding torque — enough to hold a vertical axis at rest without servo current draw. The brake is factory-fitted and tested; the drive parameter set must include the brake release and engage times to avoid the motor fighting the brake during start/stop transitions. Feedback comes from an absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder — the drive reads absolute position on power-up without a homing cycle, as long as the encoder battery backup is maintained. The multiturn count tracks position across power cycles, which matters for applications where the axis must not lose its reference after a power loss.
Mounting, sealing, and mechanical interface
The motor flange is 100 mm (3.9 in) with a 0.4 in (9.0 mm) mounting hole diameter and 0.1 in (3.5 mm) centring collar depth — standard IEC metric frame that bolts directly to the matching gearbox or machine interface without an adapter plate. The shaft is 19 mm diameter with a parallel key, 40 mm shaft length, and 6 mm key width. IP65 on the motor body and shaft bushing, IP67 on the housing per IEC 60034-5 — the shaft bushing seal is the wet-end limit in washdown zones; the housing itself withstands temporary immersion. The rotatable right-angled connector or straight connector option lets the cable exit direction be specified at order time, not field-swapped. Maximum radial force derates with speed: 900 N at 1000 rpm, 720 N at 2000 rpm, 630 N at 3000 rpm, 570 N at 4000 rpm, 530 N at 5000 rpm. Maximum axial force is 160 N. The bearing life calculation must use the radial force at the operating speed, not the static maximum.
Electrical parameters for drive tuning
Stator resistance is 3.8 Ohm and stator inductance is 9.5 mH — these values set the electrical time constant and feed into the drive's current loop PI gains. The torque constant is 0.84 N.m/A at 120 °C copper temperature, and the back EMF constant is 60 V/krpm at 20 °C. The drive's velocity loop feed-forward terms are tuned around these constants for the target speed range.
