Three-phase servo with integrated holding brake
The SH31001P12F2200 is a three-phase servo motor from the Schneider Electric SH3 series, fitted with a holding brake and an absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder. It delivers 1190 W continuous power from a 100 mm flange frame. The integrated holding brake provides 9 N.m holding torque, which keeps the load locked in position when the drive is disabled — essential for vertical-axis applications where the load must not drift under gravity.
Speed and torque across supply configurations
Nominal speed depends on the supply: 1250 rpm on 115 V single-phase, 2500 rpm on 230 V single-phase, 5000 rpm on 400 V three-phase, and 6000 rpm on 480 V three-phase. The nominal torque also shifts — 2.91 N.m at 115 V single-phase, 2.64 N.m at 230 V single-phase, and 2.27 N.m on both 400 V and 480 V three-phase supplies. Peak stall torque reaches 9.6 N.m across the 115–480 V three-phase range, giving the motor headroom for acceleration and deceleration transients beyond the continuous rating. Continuous stall torque is 2.94 N.m on three-phase supplies, and the torque constant is 0.84 N.m/A at 120 °C copper temperature — useful for sizing the drive's current loop.
Sealing and environmental protection
The motor body carries IP65 protection per IEC 60034-5, the shaft bushing is also IP65, and the housing is rated IP67. This means the motor withstands washdown and temporary submersion — suitable for food-and-beverage lines or wet machining environments where coolant spray is present. Cooling is by natural convection, so the motor relies on its own surface area and ambient airflow rather than a fan. Mounting on the international standard flange (100 mm) with four 9 mm holes and a 3.5 mm centring collar depth ensures repeatable alignment to the driven load.
Mechanical interface and load limits
The shaft is 19 mm diameter with a 40 mm length and a parallel key (6 mm key width). Maximum radial force at the shaft nose is 900 N at 1000 rpm, derating to 530 N at 5000 rpm. Maximum axial force is 160 N. These limits govern bearing life when coupling to belts, gears, or direct loads.
The sizing reference SH31001P ties the motor to the SH3 family's parametric selection tool.
