Drive tuning and encoder compatibility
The SH31002P0BA4100 carries an absolute multiturn Hiperface DSL encoder — this is a digital serial interface that carries position and temperature data over a single cable pair, so the drive must support the Hiperface DSL protocol (Lexium 32 or similar) rather than an incremental or EnDat feedback scheme. Stator resistance is 2.4 Ohm and inductance is 13.5 mH, which sets the electrical time constant the drive's current loop must handle; the torque constant is 1.21 Nm/A at 120 °C copper temperature, so the continuous stall current of 4.8 A produces 5.8 Nm holding torque at standstill.
Speed-torque map across supply voltages
This motor delivers different performance depending on the supply: at 400 V three-phase it runs 4000 rpm nominal with 4.6 Nm torque and 1930 W output; at 480 V three-phase it reaches 4800 rpm with 4.4 Nm torque at the same 1930 W power; on 230 V single-phase it drops to 2000 rpm and 5.2 Nm at 1090 W. Peak stall torque is 18.3 Nm across the 115–480 V three-phase range, limited by the 17.1 A peak current capability — useful for acceleration transients but sustained torque is governed by the continuous stall figure.
Mounting and environmental fit
IP65 rating on both the motor body and shaft bushing per IEC 60034-5 means the unit withstands hose-down and dust ingress — suitable for food-and-beverage or washdown zones where a standard IP20 motor would fail. The 100 mm flange (IEC standard) with a 95 mm centring collar and 19 mm smooth shaft means it bolts directly to a standard gearbox or coupling without adapter plates; the smooth shaft (no keyway) requires a clamping-type coupling. Maximum radial force at the shaft is 3730 N at 1000 rpm, derating to 2580 N at 3000 rpm — this sets the belt-drive or overhung load limit; axial force is capped at 740 N.
No holding brake is fitted, so if the application requires a brake for vertical-axis holding or emergency stop, an external brake or a different variant with brake must be specified — this is a common gotcha on first-order BOMs.
