Three-phase 1500 W servo with holding brake
The SH31003M02F1100 is a three-phase servo motor from Schneider Electric's SH3 series, delivering 1500 W continuous power with an integrated holding brake. It is designed for precision motion control applications where the load must be held stationary when power is removed — the brake holds 9 N.m (79.7 lbf.in) static torque. The motor's nominal speed and torque vary with the supply voltage: at 400 V three-phase it delivers 2000 rpm and 7 N.m; at 480 V three-phase it reaches 2400 rpm and 6.76 N.m. This means the same motor can be wired into different line voltages, but the available torque at rated speed shifts — something to confirm against the load profile before committing the BOM line.
Encoder feedback and IP65 protection
The encoder is an absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface type — it retains position data through power cycles, so homing routines are not needed after a restart. The motor carries IP65 protection per IEC 60034-5 on both the housing and the shaft bushing, making it suitable for washdown environments in food-and-beverage or packaging lines where dust and hose-directed water are present. Cooling is by natural convection — no fan, so the thermal budget relies on the motor's surface area and the ambient air. The stator resistance is 5.3 Ohm and the inductance is 17.4 mH, which sets the electrical time constant and influences the servo drive tuning parameters.
