Speed-versus-voltage profile
The SH31003M11F1000: Nominal speed depends on supply: 500 rpm at 115 V single-phase, 1000 rpm at 230 V single-phase, 2000 rpm at 400 V three-phase, and 2400 rpm at 480 V three-phase. The motor delivers 1500 W continuous power, but the nominal output power varies from 410 W (115 V single-phase) up to 1700 W (480 V three-phase). This means the drive supply voltage directly sets the usable speed-torque envelope — a 480 V three-phase line gives the full 2400 rpm capability, while a 115 V single-phase line limits you to 500 rpm at reduced power. The torque constant is 2.35 N·m/A at 120 °C copper temperature, and the back EMF constant is 148 V/krpm at 20 °C. These two parameters define the current-to-torque mapping and the voltage-speed ceiling — essential for sizing the drive's current loop and DC bus voltage margin.
Brake and torque ratings for sizing
Holding torque is 9 N·m (79.7 lbf·in) with the brake engaged — this holds the load stationary when power is removed, critical for vertical-axis applications. Nominal torque ranges from 7.8 N·m (115 V single-phase) down to 6.76 N·m (480 V three-phase), while continuous stall torque is 8 N·m across the 115–480 V three-phase range. Peak stall torque reaches 28.3 N·m at 115–480 V three-phase, giving a 3.5× overload margin for acceleration and deceleration transients.
Encoder and feedback integration
The encoder is an absolute single-turn SinCos Hiperface type — this provides absolute position within one revolution without a battery-backed multiturn count. The SinCos analog tracks give high-resolution velocity feedback suitable for sinusoidal commutation. Drive compatibility must include Hiperface interface support; check the drive encoder option card before pairing.
Mounting and environmental sealing
Mounting uses an international standard flange with 100 mm flange size, 95 mm centring collar diameter, and 3.5 mm centring collar depth. The shaft is 19 mm diameter with a parallel key (6 mm key width, 40 mm shaft length). IP protection is IP54 at the shaft bushing without seal ring, IP65 for the motor body, and IP65 at the shaft bushing when fitted with the seal ring — conforming to IEC 60034-5. For washdown environments, the shaft seal ring is required to maintain IP65 at the shaft exit. Electrical connection options include a rotatable right-angled connector or a straight connector — both allow cable exit direction flexibility in tight cabinets. Cooling is natural convection, so the motor relies on surface radiation and ambient airflow; no forced-air or liquid cooling is provided, which limits duty cycle in high-torque applications without adequate panel ventilation.
Electrical parameters for drive commissioning
Stator resistance is 5.3 Ω and stator inductance is 17.4 mH — these set the electrical time constant (L/R ≈ 3.3 ms) and influence the current regulator tuning. Maximum continuous current (Irms) is 14.7 A, with the same 14.7 A peak for 3 seconds. The 4-pole motor (2 pole pairs) gives a base speed range that matches the nominal speed values listed above. Maximum radial force Fr is 1050 N at 1000 rpm, derating to 660 N at 4000 rpm. Maximum axial force Fa is 160 N. These bearing load limits must be checked against the application's belt tension or direct-drive coupling forces to avoid premature bearing failure.
