Motor specs that decide the fit
The SH31003M11F1100 is a three-phase servo motor from Schneider's SH3 family, sized for 1500 W continuous power on a 100 mm flange. The nominal torque sits at 7.8 Nm when fed from 400 V three-phase, dropping to 7 Nm at the same voltage — the torque curve is voltage-dependent, not just speed-dependent. The holding brake delivers 9 Nm of holding torque, which means the motor holds the load at rest without power to the windings — critical for vertical-axis applications where the load would otherwise back-drive the motor. Peak stall torque reaches 28.3 Nm across the 115–480 V three-phase range, giving the drive headroom for acceleration and deceleration without tripping on current limit.
Speed, encoder, and feedback loop
Nominal speed varies with supply: 500 rpm at 115 V single-phase, 1000 rpm at 230 V single-phase, 2000 rpm at 400 V three-phase, and 2400 rpm at 480 V three-phase. The 4-pole motor design keeps the torque constant at 2.35 Nm/A at 120 °C copper temperature. The absolute single-turn SinCos Hiperface encoder provides position feedback without a homing cycle on power-up — the drive reads the absolute position from the encoder's memory. This eliminates the need for a reference run after every power cycle, saving cycle time in multi-axis pick-and-place or indexing applications. Back EMF constant is 148 V/krpm at 20 °C, which sets the voltage ceiling for high-speed operation — at 2400 rpm the back EMF reaches about 355 V, leaving headroom for the drive's DC bus.
Mounting and environmental sealing
The motor mounts on an international standard flange with a 100 mm flange size and a 95 mm centring collar. Four mounting holes at 9 mm diameter on a 3.7 in (95 mm) centring collar diameter — the bolt pattern matches the standard IEC 100 mm frame. Natural convection cooling — no fan, so no additional noise or maintenance from a cooling fan. The thermal limit is 130 °C copper hot, and the stator resistance of 5.3 Ω and inductance of 17.4 mH define the electrical time constant for the drive's current loop tuning.
The motor ships with a rotatable right-angle connector and a straight connector option, giving flexibility in cable routing within the cabinet or cable track.
