The SH31003M12A1100 is a 1500 W continuous-power servo motor from the SH3 series, delivering 8 Nm continuous stall torque across the 115–480 V three-phase input range. The 100 mm flange (IEC standard) and 19 mm shaft with parallel key match the SH3 frame footprint — a direct fit for existing SH3-based machine designs. Nominal torque and speed vary with supply voltage: 7.8 Nm at 500 rpm on 115 V single phase, 7.5 Nm at 1000 rpm on 230 V single phase, 7 Nm at 2000 rpm on 400 V three phase, and 6.76 Nm at 2400 rpm on 480 V three phase. The peak stall torque reaches 28.3 Nm — useful for short-duration acceleration or overcoming load inertia during start-up. The motor uses natural convection cooling (no fan), so the thermal budget depends on the mounting surface and ambient airflow. The IP65 rating on both the motor body and shaft bushing means it withstands washdown environments — suitable for food processing or wet machining lines where hose-down cleaning is routine.

Absolute multiturn Hiperface encoder — position feedback without homing

The encoder is an absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface type — it reports the absolute shaft position over multiple revolutions without needing a battery-backed counter or a homing sequence after power loss. The SinCos analog track provides high-resolution velocity feedback for the drive's current loop, while the digital Hiperface protocol handles the absolute position data. The torque constant is 2.35 Nm/A at 120 °C copper temperature, and the back EMF constant is 148 V/krpm at 20 °C. Stator resistance is 5.3 Ω and inductance is 17.4 mH — these values set the current-loop tuning parameters in the drive. The maximum continuous stall current is 3.4 A, with a 3-second peak of 14.7 A for acceleration transients.

Mounting, shaft loads, and electrical connections

Maximum radial force on the shaft is speed-dependent: 1050 N at 1000 rpm, dropping to 660 N at 4000 rpm. Maximum axial force is 160 N. The electrical connection uses a rotatable right-angled connector or a straight connector — both are IP65-rated when mated. The motor is supplied without a holding brake.
