Motor ratings across supply voltages
The SH31003M12F2100 is a three-phase servo motor from the SH3 family, rated 1500 W continuous power with a holding brake. Its nominal speed and torque shift with the supply voltage: at 400 V three-phase it delivers 2000 rpm and 7 N.m; at 480 V three-phase it reaches 2400 rpm and 6.76 N.m. On single-phase 230 V the nominal speed drops to 1000 rpm at 7.5 N.m, and on 115 V single-phase it runs 500 rpm at 7.8 N.m. The peak stall torque is 28.3 N.m across the 115–480 V three-phase range, and continuous stall torque is 8 N.m. This voltage-dependent performance means the drive selection must match the available line supply to hit the target speed-torque point.
Encoder and feedback — no homing required
The motor carries an absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface encoder. Multiturn absolute feedback tracks position over multiple shaft revolutions without battery backup, so the axis knows its position immediately after a power cycle — no homing sequence needed on a gantry or rotary table. The SinCos interface gives high-resolution analog sine/cosine signals for smooth low-speed control.
Holding brake and mechanical interface
An integrated holding brake delivers 9 N.m holding torque. This is enough to hold a vertical load at standstill without the drive holding current — the brake engages when power is removed, preventing the axis from dropping. The motor has a 19 mm shaft with a parallel key, a 100 mm flange, and a 95 mm centring collar. Mounting is to the international standard flange pattern, so it fits common gearbox and machine interfaces.
Environmental protection and cooling
The motor and shaft bushing are both rated IP65 per IEC 60034-5. This means the housing is dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets — suitable for washdown areas in food processing or machining lines where coolant spray is present. Cooling is by natural convection, so no external fan or forced air is needed; the motor relies on its surface area and the machine structure to dissipate heat.
