Encoder feedback — the loop's anchor
The SH31003P1BA3100: This motor carries an absolute multiturn Hiperface DSL encoder. Multiturn means the drive knows the absolute position even after power cycles and mechanical travel beyond one revolution — no homing sequence needed on power-up.
Torque-speed envelope across supply voltages
Nominal torque varies with the supply: 7 N·m at 230 V single-phase, 5.7 N·m at 400 V three-phase, and 5.1 N·m at 480 V three-phase. Nominal output power is 1470 W on single-phase 230 V, rising to 2390 W on both 400 V and 480 V three-phase supplies.
Current ratings — drive sizing constraints
Continuous stall current is 6.6 A; maximum RMS current is 28.3 A. The drive must be capable of supplying the peak current for acceleration and deceleration phases. The torque constant is 1.22 N·m/A at 120 °C copper temperature — use the hot value for worst-case sizing, not the cold figure.
No holding brake — application constraint
This variant ships without a holding brake. On a vertical axis or any application where the load must stay put when power is removed, an external brake or a motor with the brake option is required. The motor flange is the standard 100 mm IEC pattern, so retrofitting a third-party brake is mechanically possible but adds stack-up length and inertia.
IP65 — washdown-ready but not submersible
Both the motor body and the shaft bushing are rated IP65 per IEC 60034-5. That means dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction — suitable for food-processing washdown or coolant splash on a machine tool. The rotatable right-angle connector and the quicklock straight connector both maintain the seal when properly torqued.
Mechanical interface — mounting and shaft
The motor mounts on an international standard 100 mm flange with a 95 mm centring collar and 9 mm mounting holes. The shaft is 19 mm diameter with a parallel key, 40 mm length, and 6 mm key width. Maximum radial force is 130 N at 1000 rpm, dropping to 90 N at 3000 rpm — respect the speed-dependent derating for belt or gear drives. Maximum axial force is 20 N.
Electrical parameters — winding data for drive setup
Stator resistance is 1.43 Ω; stator inductance is 9.4 mH. The back EMF constant is 77 V/krpm at 20 °C — the drive's velocity loop and current loop gains depend on these values. The motor has 4 poles, so the electrical frequency at 4000 rpm is 133.3 Hz.
