The SH31003P1BF3100 is a Schneider Electric SH3 series servo motor rated for 2.4 kW continuous power with a holding brake rated at 9 N·m (79.7 lbf·in). The brake holds the shaft stationary when power is removed — essential for vertical-axis applications where the load must not drift on power loss. Feedback comes from an absolute multiturn Hiperface DSL encoder, which gives position data even after a power cycle — no homing routine needed on restart. The encoder communicates over a single cable pair, reducing wiring complexity compared to incremental encoder setups.
Speed-torque envelope across supply voltages
Nominal speed depends on the supply: 2000 rpm on 230 V single-phase, 4000 rpm on 400 V three-phase, and 4800 rpm on 480 V three-phase. Nominal torque varies accordingly — 7 N·m at 230 V single-phase, 5.7 N·m at 400 V three-phase, and 5.1 N·m at 480 V three-phase. The motor delivers 28.3 N·m peak stall torque across the 115-480 V three-phase range, giving a 3-5x overload margin for acceleration and deceleration transients. Continuous stall torque is 8 N·m at 115-480 V three-phase, and the torque constant is 1.22 N·m/A at 120 °C copper temperature. Stator resistance is 1.43 Ω and inductance is 9.4 mH — these values matter for drive tuning and current-loop bandwidth calculation.
Mounting and environmental fit
The motor uses a 100 mm (3.9 in) international standard flange with a 95 mm centring collar and 9.0 mm mounting holes. Shaft diameter is 19 mm (0.7 in) with a parallel key and 40 mm shaft length. The IP65 rating on both the motor body and shaft bushing means it withstands washdown — suitable for food processing, packaging, or any line where hosed cleaning is routine.
