Motor specs that decide the retrofit fit
The SH31004P01A1100 is a 2.5 kW continuous-power servo motor from the SH3 family, built around a 100 mm international standard flange — the same bolt pattern that's been common across European machine-tool and packaging lines for years, so it drops into the old footprint without re-drilling the mounting plate. Rated for three-phase supply, but the nominal speed and torque shift with the line voltage: at 400 V three-phase you get 3000 rpm and 7.9 N·m; at 480 V three-phase it's 3600 rpm and 6.9 N·m. If you're swapping into a machine originally running at a different voltage, the speed-torque curve moves — no need to gut the whole line, but check that the new motor still delivers the load torque at the required speed. The encoder is an absolute single-turn SinCos Hiperface — that's the same feedback protocol used by Schneider's Lexium drives and many third-party servo drives that support Hiperface. It gives position at power-up without a homing move, which saves a cycle on every machine start.
IP65 on both the motor body and the shaft bushing per IEC 60034-5 means the motor handles washdown spray from any direction — it's at home on food-and-beverage conveyors, packaging machines, or any line where the hose comes out between shifts. Smooth shaft, 24 mm diameter, 50 mm shaft length — no keyway, so the coupler or pulley clamps onto the shaft. The 160 N maximum axial force and 1070 N radial force at 1000 rpm give the bearing load budget for belt drives or direct coupling. No holding brake on this variant — the load is held by the drive's holding torque or an external brake. If your application needs a fail-safe brake on the motor shaft, this isn't the variant; the brake version carries a different suffix.
Electrical parameters for drive tuning and sizing
Stator resistance is 1.81 Ω, inductance 18.35 mH — these feed into the servo drive's auto-tuning routine for current-loop gains. The torque constant is 1.62 N·m/A at 120 °C copper temperature, so the continuous stall current of 6.2 A produces 10 N·m stall torque. Peak current is 32.3 A for 3 seconds, delivering 40.5 N·m peak stall torque — enough to break away a stuck load or accelerate a high-inertia roller. The back EMF constant is 103 V/krpm at 20 °C, which sets the maximum bus voltage needed to reach rated speed.
