Motor ratings that shift with the supply
The SH31004P0AF4100 is a 4-pole, three-phase servo motor from the SH3 family, sized on the SH31004P frame. Its nominal speed and torque depend on the supply voltage: 1500 rpm at 230 V single-phase, 3000 rpm at 400 V three-phase, and 3600 rpm at 480 V three-phase. Nominal torque follows suit — 9.5 Nm at 230 V, dropping to 7.9 Nm at 400 V, and 6.9 Nm at 480 V. That means the same motor delivers different work depending on what voltage you feed it; the 480 V line gives you the highest speed but the lowest continuous torque. Continuous power is 2500 W, but nominal output power varies: 1490 W on 230 V single-phase, 2480 W on both 400 V and 480 V three-phase. The peak stall torque hits 40.5 Nm across the 115...480 V three-phase range, with a continuous stall torque of 10 Nm. That peak figure matters for acceleration and emergency stops — the motor can briefly pull 40.5 Nm to get a load moving or hold it through a transient.
Brake, encoder, and shaft — the fit details
The encoder is an absolute single-turn Hiperface DSL, which gives position feedback over a digital serial link without a separate battery backup for single-turn applications. The shaft is smooth (no keyway), 24 mm diameter, 50 mm long. The motor flange is 100 mm square (3.9 in), with a centring collar depth of 3.5 mm and mounting holes on a 9.0 mm diameter bolt circle — standard international flange pattern for this frame size. Electrical connection uses a straight connector and a quick-lock rotatable right-angled connector — the rotatable one lets you orient the cable exit to clear adjacent hardware in a tight cabinet. Cooling is by natural convection; no fan means no additional noise or maintenance, but the motor relies on its own surface area and the mounting flange to shed heat.
IP65 and environmental limits
The motor body and the shaft bushing are both rated IP65 per IEC 60034-5. That means it's dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction — suitable for washdown areas, food processing lines, or outdoor enclosures where the motor is directly exposed to hose-down cleaning. The shaft seal is the wet-end barrier; the IP65 rating holds as long as the cable gland is properly torqued. Maximum radial force on the shaft is 145 N at 1000 rpm, dropping to 115 N at 2000 rpm and 100 N at 3000 rpm. Maximum axial force is 20 N. These limits govern the belt tension or direct-coupling alignment — exceed them and the bearing life shortens or the shaft seal leaks. The stator resistance is 1.8 Ω, inductance 13 mH, and the back-EMF constant is 103 V/krpm at 20 °C — numbers the drive needs to auto-tune the current loop.
