Motor with brake for vertical-axis and high-inertia loads
The SH31004P0BF3100 is a Schneider Electric SH3 series servo motor with an integrated holding brake, rated for three-phase supply. It delivers 2.5 kW continuous power and reaches 3000 rpm nominal speed on a 400 V three-phase line, with the speed shifting to 1500 rpm on 230 V single-phase and 3600 rpm on 480 V three-phase. The holding brake provides 12 N.m (106.2 lbf.in) of holding torque — enough to secure vertical-axis loads or high-inertia rotors when power is removed, preventing axis drift during standstill or emergency stops.
Nominal torque and stall torque across supply voltages
Nominal torque is voltage-dependent: 9.5 N.m at 230 V single-phase, 7.9 N.m at 400 V three-phase, and 6.9 N.m at 480 V three-phase. Continuous stall torque is 10 N.m across the 115–480 V three-phase range, with a continuous stall current of 6.2 A. Peak stall torque reaches 40.5 N.m (358.5 lbf.in) on 115–480 V three-phase supply — this is the torque available for short-duration acceleration or deceleration events before the drive current limit intervenes. The torque constant is 1.62 N.m/A at 120 °C copper temperature, and the back EMF constant is 103 V/krpm at 20 °C — both values needed for drive parameter setup and current-loop tuning.
Encoder feedback and IP65 sealing for production-floor integration
An absolute multiturn Hiperface DSL encoder provides position feedback over a digital serial link — no separate encoder cable required, reducing wiring complexity and eliminating analog signal drift on long cable runs. IP65 protection on both the motor body and the shaft bushing, per IEC 60034-5, means the motor withstands washdown and airborne particulates common in food, packaging, and machine-tool environments.
